Handgun #006: Colt Model 1848 2nd U.S. Contract Dragoon Revolver # 2150. 71/2" .44cal. This is one of the first revolvers made by Sam Colt at the Pearl St. factory. Deliveries to the U.S. was in early 1848 and they were issued to the U.S. Regiment of Mounted Riflemen. Lt. William T. Sherman purchased one. Many ended up with deserters in the California Gold Rush of 1849. Only 1000 made. 100% original. |
